Айя-София / Hagia Sophia

Работа выполнена по результатам моего полугодового исследования архитектуры Храма Святой Софии в Константонополе (Стамбуле). Меня интересовал этот перекресток многих культур, в сочетании с древностью и глобальностью сооружения, его значение для многих людей и то, как уживаются 2 противоборствующие порой религии в рамках одного Мира.
Здесь я соединила мои впечатления от арабской вязи и красоту женского тела.
Как фанат текстур, в каждой работе я делю эксперимент, и ни одна из них не может быть скопирована даже мной, все они уникальны.

A woman's silhouette dissolves into Arabic script - two visual languages, two traditions, one space where they have coexisted for centuries.
This work came out of a six-month study of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople - its architecture, its layered history, the question of what it means for a single building to hold that many meanings for that many people at once. What drew me most was the intersection: the calligraphy inscribed over the Byzantine mosaics, the feminine form woven into geometric ornament. I am interested in texture as a thinking tool, and here the pastel and ink work together in a way I cannot fully predict or repeat. Each pass of the medium changes what was underneath.
